A relaxed, family-friendly traditional safari camp, ideal for those seeking fun and adventure, without sacrificing comfort or style. The camp is an eclectic mix of original African furniture and textiles paired with traditional campaign style furniture and colonial antiques.
You’ll find Camp Kalahari nestled amongst the acacias and Mokolwane palms of Brown Hyaena Island, on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, adjacent to the Makgadikgadi-Nxai Pans National Park, Botswana.
There are direct flights to Maun from Cape Town and Johannesburg. Fly to Johannesburg, and then on to Maun, Botswana. From Maun, transfer by light aircraft to Camp Kalahari.
Camp Kalahari is open all year round.

The style of the camp is refreshingly simple, cosy, comfortable and traditional. Guests can relax in a traditionally built thatch library, living and dining area, and when it heats up, cool off in the plunge pool.
Camp Kalahari has 11 spacious Meru tents. 6 twin tents, 4 double tents and 1 family tent: 2 adjacent tents, accommodating 2 guests in each with an inter-leading bathroom. All eleven traditional safari tents are en-suite and outfitted with rich textiles, Moroccan kilims, and four poster beds.
Uncharted Africa is renowned for menus that emphasise fresh tastes and originality. The meals at Camp Kalahari are plated, not buffet style, and are comprised of interesting and delicious dishes. Please inform reservations of any dietary requirements prior to travel – and confirm upon arrival with camp management.
All meals, activities and drinks. Flights, premium beverages and discretionary tips/gratuities are however, excluded.

- Lie out on the pans as the sun sets, and watch the planetarium show unfold.
Green Season:
- Experience the migration of zebra and wildebeest – the second biggest in Africa, and the last remaining in Southern Africa.
- We welcome all ages
- There are lanterns as well as electrical lights in the guest tents and dining area
- There are camera charging facilities
- There is no internet connection or cell phone signal in the camp
- 2 guests per quad bike
- Our vehicles are open and fit a maximum of 10 people
- Water is a scarce resource in Botswana, so please try to conserve it where possible
- The water in Botswana is safe to drink
- The desert can get extremely hot in October
- There is malaria in Botswana and we recommend precautions be taken. Please consult your doctor
- The camp takes a maximum of 24 guests
